Spectros AG
Spectros AG was founded in 1946 in Basle, Switzerland.
During its earlier years, the company limited itself solely to the production of loose optical systems, and gradually extended to the manufacture of precision-mechanics components.
As part of this extension, Spectros purchased Meridian, manufactured small, geodetic instruments such as clinometers and compasses.
The company headquarters was relocated in 1961 to Ettingen, 15 km south west of Basle; to the company's stand alone production and office building.
In the 1970s, Haag-Streit was Spectros' largest customer. In addition, in 1976, Spectros AG became a subsidiary of Haag-Streit AG.
This enabled Haag-Streit's to mesh its ophthalmic instrumentation expertise with Spectros' opto-mechanical strengths to create a powerful synergy. Now Haag-Streit as a group has the capability to manufacture entire compound lenses and optical systems.
An annex was constructed in 1998 to double the production area to 900.
Today, the Spectros AG workforce numbers 50 plus with operation areas in precision optics, precision mechanics and assembly.
